Want to split one photo the other way — into Instagram grid tiles? ShotKit's Instagram Grid Splitter does the reverse: one image in, numbered tiles out.

Why combine product photos at all?

A listing image is a single slot in a buyer's scroll. When the main photo answers "what is it", the next images have to answer the follow-up questions — what does the back look like, what colors does it come in, how big is it next to a hand or a coin. Each of those is a separate photo on its own, but a buyer flipping through a carousel only glances at each one. A collage packs the answers a buyer is most likely to have into a single supplementary image, so the second glance does the work of four. That is why a 2×2 grid of angles or a side-by-side variant comparison is the most common shape sellers reach for after the main photo is done.

The composite also solves a platform constraint. Amazon, Etsy, and Shopify all display supplementary images inside a square frame, and Instagram crops to 4:5 — so four photos uploaded separately each get their own crop, and a wide product ends up floating in white space. A collage you control lets you lay the photos out once, at the ratio the platform will show them at, so nothing important lands inside a crop line you never chose.

In your browser, on a canvas

Every step here runs on an HTML canvas inside your browser. Your photos are decoded, drawn into grid cells, and re-encoded into a single fresh JPG or PNG without ever being uploaded to a server. That matters twice over for sellers: your product images — often the most valuable asset a listing has — never leave your device, and the re-encode also discards any EXIF or GPS metadata the originals carried, because a browser never preserves embedded metadata when it exports the pixels. The file you download is clean by construction.

Each photo is cover-fit into its cell — scaled to fill the rectangle with any overflow cropped away — so the grid always looks even regardless of the original aspect ratios. The gap and background color let you decide whether the photos sit edge-to-edge or float on white, the way a marketplace supplementary image is supposed to. Once the composite is done, run it through the Image Compressor if a platform size limit bites, or the Watermark Tool if you want to protect it before posting.

Frequently asked questions

How do I combine multiple product photos into one image?

Upload two to nine photos here, pick a grid layout (side-by-side, strip, 2×2, 2×3, or 3×3), choose an output shape — square 2000×2000 for Amazon and Etsy, 4:5 1080×1350 for Instagram, or 16:9 1920×1080 for Shopify and ads — set a gap and background color, then click Download collage. Each photo is cover-fit (cropped to fill) into its cell on an HTML canvas, the whole grid is re-encoded into a single fresh JPG or PNG, and the file downloads. Nothing is uploaded; everything runs in your browser.

What is a product image collage used for in e-commerce?

Sellers use a collage to fit several angles, colorways, or a size reference into a single supplementary listing image — the kind Amazon, Etsy, and Shopify let you add alongside the main photo. A 2×2 grid of four angles, a side-by-side comparison of two variants, or a 2×3 grid showing the product in use all save a buyer a click and work well as the second or third image in a listing. Square 2000×2000 is the safest output because marketplaces display supplementary images as squares.

What size should a product photo collage be?

Match the marketplace. Amazon and Etsy display listing images as squares, so a 2000×2000 square collage fills the frame without further cropping. Instagram prefers a 4:5 portrait at 1080×1350. Shopify product and ad creative often work at 16:9 — 1920×1080. This tool ships all three as one-click presets; the gap and background color let you control how much white space sits between photos so the composite looks intentional rather than cramped.

Is this collage maker free with no upload and no watermark?

Yes. The whole tool runs in your browser on an HTML canvas — your photos never leave your device, there is no account to create, no server upload, and no watermark is added to the output. The download is a clean JPG or PNG you can post straight to a listing. It is free for unlimited use on Amazon, Etsy, Shopify, Instagram, Pinterest, and ad creative.

Can I reorder the photos in the collage?

Yes. The uploaded photos fill the grid left-to-right, top-to-bottom in upload order. Use the up and down arrows next to any photo to move it earlier or later in the sequence, or the ✕ to remove it. If you load more photos than the chosen layout has cells, the extra photos stay loaded but unused — the preview note tells you, so you can either switch to a larger grid or remove them rather than silently losing an image.
